Why You Should Dry Out Your Incinerator Refractory

After repairing your incinerator refractory, it is important to dry out the moisture in the refractory material by preheating the refractory.

Take note! The moisture released during the thermal decomposition of the hydrates needs to be removed slowly. Preheating the new refractory too quickly may lead to the sudden formation of steam inside, and this generates high steam pressure that may cause the lining to crack or even explode.

It is important to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations to the letter. When in doubt, always err on the side of the slowest drying rule. Remember: Temperature control is the key to successful drying.
