Singapore, 8 Sep 2020 — GIANTECH Engineering Pte Ltd has been appointed by Bawat A/S to be its exclusive authorised sales and service agent in Singapore for Bawat’s Ballast Water Management System (BWMS).
Bawat’s BWMS has garnered great interest from shipowners of both new-builds and existing vessels needing retrofit, thanks to its new methodology of using pasteurization for ballast water treatment, which drastically reduces operational expenditure.
GIANTECH is excited to elevate Bawat’s support to customers and crew to the next level by strengthening its presence in key maritime locations.
“Singapore is an important hub to us,” said Mr Marcus Hummer, CEO of Bawat A/S. “We believe that GIANTECH, with its professional front-line staff and service engineers, will be able to give customers the assistance they need, whether it is for a new installation discussion or giving the support through the lifetime of our system when the ships are in Singapore.”
Bawat’s BWMS is the world’s first in-voyage ballast water management system utilizing onboard waste energy to treat water. The Bawat system ensures zero impact on ship performance and zero disruption to cargo and ballast operation while the vessel is in port. Built on known standard maritime components, the Bawat BWMS is easy to operate and maintain.
Bawat made industry news when it received the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Type-Approval of its first-of-its-kind BWMS, that does not require chemicals, filters, or UV lamps for its water treatment.
Bawat BWMS has also attained International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Type-Approval.
GIANTECH is proud to score this exclusive agreement with Bawat, and looks forward to supporting shipowners who are looking at alternatives to their ballast water treatment system.
